After spying the sometimes elusive Word on the Water a few times near me on Regents Canal I visited on Saturday with my book-loving friend Ellie-of-the-red-trousers. This is a canal barge transformed into a world of books and culture; making the most of every available space to showcase more of it’s treasures.
Apart from the general quirkiness and excitement of being on a barge on the water and seeing Regents Canal through the window there were decent and fairly new books around at two for £5, sections as you’d expect in your standard stationary bookshop including a fun looking children’s area and a sofa where presumably one can sit and read. There was someone playing live music on the roof-stage as you can just about see in the picture, and they host poetry slams and readings too.
Well worth a visit, if you can decipher from the Facebook page where it will be. I’ll be looking out for you, book barge!
And this list of awesome libraries including the Kenyan Camel library is pretty awesome too!
I heard about this a little while ago but have never actually hunted it down. It looks fab though so I need to bump it up my London to do list!

You should – it’s really cute!
This is legitimately the coolest thing ever. Definitely on the bucket list!
