I bear gifts.

I bore gifts
Carried long from afar

First shame
My failings melted together
Hidden, molten

Next guilt
Formed as a box in my heart
Sharp edges cutting

Finally fear
The heaviest
I carry it ahead
And above
And everywhere, really

Thus laden
I trudge again
To Bethlehem

They ran and threw arms
Around my neck and

And for no reason I could see
I could make that baby smile

When it came time to continue
My gifts were gone

For the baby they said
For Calvary

Against the world
I was light
I was new
All over

All was possible
And I stood
